Font Friday (Thursday)
Well as some of you may know my birthday is on Halloween which happens to be on Friday. Since I most likely won't be at my computer tomorrow (woot woot raise the roof... lol some of you kiddies might not remember that one) I decided I'd update tonight. Well today I call this Font Friday. Lately I've really been enjoying the look of serif fonts and my favorite so far is Inflex Mt Bold. I was introduced to this lil beauty by my boss when we were looking at the new Rock & Republic site and I wondered what font they used for their typography. I decided I'd share it with all of you. Although this font isn't new I think it's one of those fonts you just kind of forget about since serif fonts tend to have a very old stuffy feel. I like to think of serifs as those old friends with a lot of character. Serif fonts can work beautifully with San-Serifs giving your work a bit of a retro modern look, or use a beautiful script font to get a very elegant look. I love the look of bold fonts and this is just another one you can use instead of just sticking to the basic bold Helvetica. I say give it a try, it may not be your cup of tea but it sure is mine.
Rejected
After a long meditation while driving to work today I thought about all the work I've done for my job. I'm pretty sure we've all done lots of work that never made the cutting room floor (I'm not really sure this example would work for graphic design but hey its one of those terms I find interesting) better yet not even the waste basket five rooms away from the cutting room floor. Well back to my point... after digging through a lot of rejected and never finished work I remembered a design I had made for a shirt for an off brand t-shirt company we thought would be a good way to reuse shirts that had never been printed on at our company (this idea never took flight but still an interesting idea). Although now that I look at this design I'm not really sure if I like it... it really needed some more work I think, but hey it's an unfinished unpolished creation that I still call my baby.

Breast Cancer Awareness & Funny Stuff
Well Breast Cancer Month is almost over and if you don't know this about me I work for a clothing company (PrivacyWear and PRVCY Premium) closely associated with breast cancer awareness. We've updated our site a bit with a few new products but for the most part you can find my breast cancer awareness shirt at Fred Segal Santa Monica, and Rumor Boutique in Ventura Boulevard. This shirt was actually one of those small promo things for our junior clothing line that I really didn't think much about that got more notice then anticipated. I didn't really think much of this shirt before but apparently it had good marketing behind it. Some celebs that have been sporting this shirt are Eva Longoria, Heidi Montag (eww...), Selena Gomez, and a couple others I don't remember. Anyways hope you guys helped out this month but if you haven't its still not too late.
In other news my co worker sent me this link. It was probably the funniest thing I've seen today and you can customize it and send it to your friends as well. I hope all you guys are going to vote this year. I'll be rocking the vote will you?

Birds Of A Feather
Well after much thought I figured I'd post this little tag I made (originally a tag for the company I'm working for but it definitely wasn't something that matched their style). I changed the writing so it was something that interested me more (i have a fascination with birds and feathers). I know what some of you might think... birds are so out of style but you know... I don't really care... how else would things come back in style if someone didn't decide to bring them back. Anyways, this design was inspired by my lately frequent trips to the fashion district in Los Angeles. I've accumulated so much fabric and odd buttons I'm not sure what to do with it all... but I know I'd never throw it out (it may come in handy some day). My style has changed a bit since I graduated college, I seem to gravitate more to the hand done elements then I do to the stark vector shapes (well at least sometimes you never know what style I'll get into next). As i can remember... one of my professors told me the further along in design we go the more our styles will return to the hand done and that will distinguish the artistic designers from the technical designers... I wonder if that's true. Well there you have it folks... today's design and ramblings by yours truly.

Matte Stephens
While browsing online I came across the artwork of Matte Stephens, a great painter that I just automatically fell in love with. His illustrations remind me of old children books with a cute and quirky mix. The first painting is probably my favorite. The print is available on etsy (sadly it's $60 one of the pricer pieces on etsy but still worth it in my eyes).
You can get Matte Stephens prints here.
Check out some more of his work here.
Bonjour!
Hi everyone! My new blog is up! So after much hesitation and discussion I've decided to blog about well just about everything. Since this blog is new most of you guys don't know what I do for a living. I'm a graphic designer/avid crafter/fashion designer. Ever since I was a little kid I knew I wanted to do something with art and now I'm doing it "living the dream" as some might say... although it may not be perfect it sure is a lot of fun.
